David Bowie – The Seventies gives a picture of the most important period in the singer’s career. Gijsbert Hanekroot and David Bowie met each other six times. The book shows mainly black and white portraits, studio photos and photos of concerts.

At the start of the ‘Ziggy Stardust’ tour in 1972 Hanekroot photographed Bowie at Earls Court in London. He made beautiful images of this memorable show with constant costume changes. In 1974 Bowie was in Hilversum for TopPop recordings of the song ‘Rebel Rebel’. Not long after, he received an Edison in the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam during a festive press conference. Hanekroot photographed the concert in Ahoy Rotterdam of the ‘Thin White Duke’ tour, where he also recorded the 1978 tour.
